Hello Small Brands was created to help consumers discover exceptional brands that are often overlooked by the internet’s biggest players.
Back in 2017, I worked at a marketing agency helping consumer brands grow online. Some of the most inspiring founders I met were building products with real purpose; improving industries, treating people better, giving back to their communities, or creating truly exceptional products. Yet because they were small and didn’t have massive marketing budgets, they struggled to get noticed.
I remember meeting the founder of Ghost Democracy, a skincare brand launched to challenge an industry full of marketing hype. Instead of making products that simply claimed to contain effective ingredients, he focused on creating affordable formulas with meaningful concentrations that actually worked. It was one of many moments that made me realize how many incredible brands consumers never get the chance to discover.
At the same time, I found myself wanting to shop differently. I was searching for brands with substance, not just popularity. Brands with great products, thoughtful founders, and a point of view. The kind of brands you’d excitedly tell a friend about.
So I built the marketplace I wished existed.
Today, Hello Small Brands features companies that fit at least one of our four pillars:
- Planet Positive – Brands reducing their environmental impact.
- People First – Brands that prioritize employees and workplace culture.
- Gives Back – Brands supporting communities and causes.
- Luxury with Purpose – Exceptional products created with intention and integrity.
We believe every purchase is a vote for the kind of world we want to live in. Our goal is simple: make it easier to discover brands that deserve to be seen.
"A mission statement is just a layout placeholder until it is validated by a user's actual experience. True brand alignment isn't found in the copy; it’s proven in the friction—or lack thereof—in the daily user journey."
Mission statement isn't a static asset you design once and forget. It is a live promise. In a fast-paced market where users have endless alternatives at their fingertips, authenticity isn't a design aesthetic—it’s the ultimate competitive advantage.
